A Letter To the Girl Who’s Been Silenced
Hi My Love,
I know you’re tired, beyond tired.
You’ve spent your entire life being told to be quiet, masking yourself and your truth to keep the peace.
You’ve done it for so long that the sound of your voice scares you. Any time you speak, you feel shame.
Can I ask you something? Whose peace are you keeping? It can’t be yours.
It can’t be yours if you find yourself trembling with fear every time you speak, afraid to hurt other people’s feelings.
It can’t be your peace if you find yourself feeling bad for standing up for yourself.
It’s not your fault you were silenced by people who didn’t value you. But remember that your peace and your voice matter, too.
The truth hurts, but it’s freeing. You deserve to be free.
You deserve to be heard, even when the conversation is uncomfortable. It’s okay to have uncomfortable conversations
. Just know that those who truly want to listen and understand will sit in that space with you.
Say what you feel. Continue to speak with grace, but don’t mask your feelings.
Take up space. You Deserve it.
I love you.
